Egremont Information Egremont is a rural/residential community located southwest of Great Barrington and bordering New York state. Routes 41, 23 and 71 dissect the town; and Route 23 leads directly to Hillsdale, N.Y. Egremont is actually divided into two entities, North Egremont and South Egremont, which have separate post offices. Egremont contains a large percentage of second and vacation homes, and working farms. Town centers have a variety of shops and restaurants that cater to the needs of residents and visitors. Originally a farming community, Egremont today maintains an agricultural flavor.
